In Japan, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (文部科学省, Monbu Kagaku Sho, MEXT) oversees the education system. Most children enroll in state-funded public education (公立, koritsu), but personal (私立, shiritsu) colleges, together with international ones, are available. These faculties are run by local governments and managed by the Department of Education. Public colleges obtain subsidies from the federal government and provide free education for their college students. These sort of schools strictly observe the Indonesian curriculum, which is taught in Bahasa Indonesia and other local languages.
